Dear Families of St. Gregory the Great
RE: School Re-Opening Under COVID-19 Protocols and Procedures
We hope this communication finds everyone well and enjoying some final summer fun as a family. It has been a summer (and year) like no other. Our September beginnings will also be quite unique. We have been presented with challenges and uncertainties, yet we are working as a team to provide the best start up possible for our students.
As you know, the Ministry of Education has provided direction to all schools in Ontario with how our framework will begin. Our WCDSB has been collaborating with our local Waterloo Region Public Heath to plan around all safety measures for our region. Although each school site is unique and protocols may vary slightly, our common approach as a school board remains consistent.
On Thursday, August 27th, we sent out a letter from our Director of Education outlining WCDSB start up protocols, yet we wanted to emphasize some site-specific processes that will be implemented. Information in this letter aligns with our Board’s plan for reopening schools https://www.wcdsb.ca/plan-for-re-opening-schools/ and the Operational Guidelines https://www.wcdsb.ca/operational-guidelines/
We thank all our families for your response to our WCDSB Board Return to School Survey. We now have a sense of those families who have chosen remote learning at St. Isidore for their child(ren) beginning in September. As mentioned in the Director’s letter, this survey and the ability to change from remote and in-class instruction will re-open and be offered after the first four weeks of instruction.
While the following information is lengthy, we hope you find it helpful in terms of preparing yourselves and your child(ren) for the re-opening of our school. While some of the protocols may seem uninviting or inconvenient, kindly remember that it is all about protecting one another while we work together to get through this global pandemic. We appreciate your attention to the details and protocols attached. Please take a look at them prior to the start of school next week.
